"God is in the rain"

"God is in the rain." -V for Vendetta.

I've watched this movie 30 times and that speech makes me tear every time. But I never thought much about this line - "God is in the rain." After my refreshing experience in Montana, I have had a more positive outlook, which has lent me to see my world in a better light. Here's one small victory: as every morning, sitting on the LIRR train to Manhattan - I looked out the window. Rain and clouds. Sadly, the rain and gloom of the day creates a similarly depressing mood with in. But I thought of V.

God is in the rain. Water evaporates from all - humans, animals, plants - all living life share water. When needed, when the earth needs to be replenished, it rains, giving back water into the earth it so desperately needs to survive. The raindrops that fall onto the window, and later onto my face, are a combination of tears and sweat from other humans, and water vapor from other living things.

That's who God is - the scientific processes the surround us and create us, and connect us. God is the sharing of life, the ignored exchange that occurs daily under our societal noses. So easily do I forget. But so easily can I remember to appreciate and love our world.
